Guides and resources

Helpful guides and resources are available from the Ministry for the Environment and from Quality Planning.

Ministry for the Environment (MfE)

The Ministry for the Environment has a number of publications which are helpful for those people involved in the resource consent process. These include publications on the following topics:

  • What is a resource consent
  • When you need a resource consent
  • Applying for resource consent
  • Resource consent application processing
  • What is consultation?
  • Submissions on resource consent and notice of requirement proposals
  • Getting involved in the resource consent process
  • Timeframes

MfE’s publications provide a good overview of the process and requirements that TCDC has to follow in processing and determining applications for resource consent.

They also give more details about what you can do in the process as an applicant, or as someone who wants to submit on an application that is limited or publicly notified.

Quality Planning website (QP)

The Quality Planning website (QP) and the resources you'll find there are particularly targeted at those experienced in resource management matters (including practitioners and consultants).

QP is backed by the Ministry for the Environment, New Zealand Planning Institute, Resource Management Law Association, New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, Local Government New Zealand and New Zealand Institute of Architects.
