Community feedback is in

Our Council’s three recent consultations have now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views and help shape the future of our district. Your feedback is a vital part of the decision-making process, and we appreciate the thought and care that went into each submission.

We received a strong response across all three consultations:

We’re still in the process of counting paper submissions, so final numbers may increase.

Over the coming weeks, our councillors and mayor will review the feedback, debate the topics and make their decisions, so stay tuned to our Council communications channels (website, email newsletters and social media).

Emergency Mobile Alert

The nationwide test of the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system is happening on Sunday 25 May, between 6-7pm.

The alert will be broadcast from cell towers to over 5.5 million phones across NZ. If your phone is turned on, capable, and has up-to-date software, you should receive the alert.

The Emergency Mobile Alert is an extra channel that can help keep you safe in an emergency. It doesn’t replace other alerting systems or the need to take action after natural warnings. You should still be prepared for an emergency.

If you feel you’re in danger, never wait for an official warning. Take immediate action.
