How do I enter?

How do I save part way through the application and how do I return to it later? 

Yes, once you started the application form, you will have the option to save at any time. Fill out your email details and a link will be sent. (See example in the video above)

Will it cost me to enter? 

No, there is no cost to register or submit an entry.

How are the categories judged? 

All entries will be submitted to an independent panel of three judges. Based on entrants' applications, judges will select finalists in each category. Judges will arrange a visit to the premises of finalists. 

What are the judges looking for? 

The judges are looking for evidence of the contribution to your business sector and the wider business community, effective financial management, job creation, service and infrastructure development, planning and continual improvement. View the entry guidelines here.

Will the judging process involve someone auditing our business? 

No, we do not audit your business. 

Do the awards criteria take into account an organisation’s financial performance? 

The success of your business will not be measured on the financial profitability alone. 

Will my application be kept on record? 

All documents submitted as part of your entry will be destroyed two months after the announcement of the award winners. You can request a copy of your entry within this timeframe.

Can a business enter more than one category if it is appropriate? 

Businesses can enter up to two categories. In the best interests of your business, your category may be changed by the judges. In this instance, full consultation will be made with the entrant business. 

Can I enter People’s Choice Award? 

Yes, nominations for People's choice can both come from the public and businesses. Businesses are able to nominate themselves during the nomination faze (1st June - 31st July).

Once nominations close, nominated businesses will then be put up for public voting (From 10th August). 

If I win the People’s Choice Award, am I eligible for the Supreme Award? 

No, you are not eligible for the Supreme Award if your business win the People's Choice Award. 

How do I enter Service to Business? 

You cannot enter this category directly as candidates must be nominated by members of the public. Judges are looking for nominations of individuals who have contributed substantially to the business community. This award aims to cast a light on the dedication shown and achievements made by this individual. 

If I win the Service to Business Award am I eligible for the Supreme Award? 

No, you are not eligible for the Supreme Award if your business win the Service to Business Award. 

As a finalist, what will be required from our business? 

Nothing further will be required other than to make a time for the judges to visit and to attend the awards night (or nominate someone to attend on their behalf).

Terms & Conditions: 

1. Any sole proprietor, partnership, incorporated society, limited liability company, educational institution, local or central government organisation, charitable or not-for-profit organisation, with its principal place of business based in, and trading in, the Hauraki and/or Thames Coromandel Districts is eligible to enter the awards.
2. An organisation that is part of a larger national or international organisation or franchise must be able to demonstrate that it operates as a separate business unit.
3. Applicants must disclose any issues that may compromise the integrity of the awards or cause their organisation to discontinue in the next year. These issues may include legal action, law changes, possible loss of funding or other risks.
4. Entering the Claymark Hauraki Coromandel Business Awards gives consent to take part in publicity as part of the Awards Programme.
5. All entrants agree to be visited by Judges if they are selected as a category finalist.
6. All entrants are encouraged to attend the Claymark Hauraki Coromandel Business Awards Gala Dinner. Finalists are expected to attend.
7. Entrants may use consultants or other outside assistance to help them prepare their entries but should make this clear on their entry.
8. The organisers may change an entrant category after discussion with that entrant.
9. All entries are treated in strictest confidence.
10. The Awards Convenor, Sponsors and TCDC/HDC Board/Staff have no input or involvement in the judging process.
11. Judges will not judge any organisation where a conflict of interest arises.
12. Decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
13. There is no cost to participate as an entrant.
14. By entering the Claymark Hauraki Coromandel Business Awards, you are consenting to agree to the above conditions.
