Our rubbish and recycling services include a rubbish bin | para.
Rubbish collection funded through a pre-paid pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) system. This PAYT system for rubbish bins means that each household is only paying for the rubbish they generate. You can buy tags ($8 in the 2024/2025 Council financial year) from our Council offices or participating local retailers (see the list of retailers at the bottom of the page) and attach them to your rubbish bin each time you put it out.

How is it paid for?
Rubbish collection is funded through a pre-paid pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) system. This PAYT system for rubbish bins means that each household is only paying for the rubbish they generate. You will need to buy pre-paid tags ($8.25 from 1 July 2025) from participating local retailers and attach them to your rubbish bin each time you put it out. Please note that the Pay As You Throw tags do not have an expiry date - so you don't need to worry about them becoming out of date.
