Half-Year Report 2025-2026
Are we delivering what we promised?
From 1 July to 31 December, we’ve been working on delivering the services and projects we committed to in our 2024-34 Long Term Plan.
That includes everyday essentials like maintaining roads, running water services, collecting rubbish, answering your calls and keeping facilities open and working.
Overall, we’re on track in most areas, with some challenges we’re actively working through.
Our half-year report is our check-in point. It tells us whether we’re delivering what we said we would – to the standard and timeframe promised – and where we need to improve.
What's been delivered so far?
Here are some of the tangible results from the first six months:
- 180,879m2 of local roads resurfaced, completed seven months ahead of schedule
- 92% of calls answered within 40 seconds
- Improved maintenance of stormwater networks to prevent flooding after heavy rain
- Fewer dry-weather sewerage overflows
- More reliable kerbside rubbish and recycling collections
- The return of the Auckland–Coromandel ferry service
- New or upgraded public toilet facilities in nine locations, supported by Tourism Infrastructure Funding
- The new Hāhei water treatment plant commissioned
- Delivery of the 2025 local elections.
Where we’re still improving
Not everything is where we want it yet.
We’re working to:
- Improve drinking water quality through continued infrastructure investment
- Improving the time it takes to restore water supply after disruptions
- Respond faster to wastewater overflows and blockages
Some targets are unlikely to be met this year. These mainly relate to equipment issues, maintenance and technical requirements. Work is underway to address these through upgrades, improved monitoring and stronger oversight of contractor performance.
We remain focused on delivering reliable services and making steady progress on the commitments we’ve made to the district.
