Find out who's running in this year’s elections
We now have a web page showing who’s running for Mayor, Councillor, or Community Board this election. This is updated weekly at tcdc.govt.nz/elections.
Remember, if you’ve publicly announced you're standing but haven’t submitted your nomination paperwork, you won’t appear on the list — and you won’t be in the running - so get your skates on.
See who's in the running
Still time to stand
There's still time for people to stand for their communities by stepping up as a candidate in this year's elections.
Nominations close on Friday 1 August.
People can submit nominations either online (via the link below) or in person anytime during office hours of our Council service centres in Thames, Coromandel Town, Whitianga and Whangamatā.
Not sure about what's involved or want to find out more? Over the next couple of weeks, our Community Boards will be meeting.
People are welcome to come and watch democracy in action at these meetings, listed below, and our friendly team will also be available outside of these meetings for anyone who might have questions about the elections, need help with nomination forms or who may want to find out more about what the responsibilities and obligations of an Elected Member really are.
Our Council is also hosting an online information session with our Local Election experts on hand to answer any questions and explain the roles up for grabs. People can access details of this via our events segment at tcdc.govt.nz/localelectionevents.
This year’s elections spark an opportunity for people to make positive change for our district and the places that matter most to us. We love our Thames-Coromandel District, the diverse communities it holds and the incredible people we share it with.
Standing for Council is about looking after our district and making it an amazing place not just for us but for our future generations. Our communities are at the heart of what we do.
Thames-Coromandel needs leaders to shape the future of our district. They could be anyone – your neighbour, your friend, your whānau, even you!

Thames water main upgrades
We’re upgrading drinking water pipelines in Thames to meet Council standards and ensure a safe, reliable supply for the future.
We’ve been busy on Parawai Road, and next up is Pollen Street (between Grey St and Willoughby St) from Monday 21 July.
There may be short-term water supply disruptions during the project, but we’ll do our best to minimise these and give you advance notice. A temporary water supply will be provided if needed.
We’ll keep you updated if anything changes and appreciate your patience and understanding while we carry out this work.
