A warning about no swimming, fishing or shellfish gathering around the Whangarahi Stream is in place following an overflow of treated wastewater on 9 July. Following the clean-up, environmental monitoring is still in progress.
A ban on swimming, fishing and shellfish collection in the Moana Anuanu estuary remains in place while clean-up of recent contamination takes place.
Help the Coromandel Coastcare team, beach-front owners, and keen Mercury Bay locals at this planting event to restore the sand dunes washed away by Cyclone Gabrielle.
Planting equipment will be provided but feel free to bring your favourite spade.
Please wear covered footwear and gardening gloves and bring a friend or three.
To protect the health of our restoration sites, we ask that you arrive with clean footwear and equipment; and to protect the health of others stay home if you are feeling unwell.
Bring your own water, however light snacks and a sausage sizzle will be provided.
Postponements due to weather will be posted on the Coastcare Waikato Facebook page and sent out via email.
