Swimming, fishing and shellfish collection in the Moana Anuanu estuary can resume following clean-up of recent contamination.
A warning about no swimming, fishing or shellfish gathering around the Whangarahi Stream is in place following an overflow of treated wastewater on 9 July. Following the clean-up, environmental monitoring is still in progress.
Join the Wāhi Tukurua team and the community for a fun and rewarding day of cleaning up Whitianga! Meet us at Buffalo Beach Reserve at 9:30am to make a difference on World Cleanup Day.
Bring your family, friends, gloves, and reusable bags or buckets. Every piece of rubbish collected helps make Whitianga cleaner and greener.
After the cleanup, the team will weigh and audit the rubbish. Let’s see how much we can collect together.
Your participation matters, and together we can make a big impact. Spread the word—everyone's welcome.
