The Rally of Coromandel is back on Saturday 23 August as the fourth round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.
Kicking things off on Friday 22 August, is the Dayle ITM Rally Street Party, with a car show and entertainment on Blacksmith Lane from 4.00pm – 8.00pm, it’s a great chance to meet the drivers and see the cars up close!
The event will feature stages through iconic Coromandel routes like Kennedy Bay, Tapu-Coroglen and the 309 Road, with a special spectator stage in Whitianga, in Dakota Drive, Abrahamsen Drive and Moewai Road.
Rally Headquarters will be based at the Mercury Bay Sports Park in Whitianga and spectators are welcome to view the cars and crews up close as they come in for servicing.
Road closures will be in place to ensure public safety during the event.
Closures will happen in stages, starting with Blacksmith Lane on 22 August, and Kennedy Bay Road, Tuateawa Road, Waikawau Beach Road, Port Charles Road, the 309 Road, Tapu-Coroglen Road, Moewai Road, Abrahamsen Drive, Dakota Drive and Blacksmith Lane on 23 August.
See the full list of road closures here.
Win a ride in a rally car

If you go to Primary school in the Thames-Coromandel District, enter the colouring competition for a chance to win a ride in a real rally car!
Download the colouring in form here or pick one up from our Council Service Centre on Monk Street, Whitianga or the Mercury Bay Library. Return your completed entry to either location before Friday 15 August.
The colouring competition has four age groups: under 5s, 5–7 years, 8–10 years, and 10–12 years.
Please note: due to height requirements, children under five won’t be able to ride in the rally car but will receive a goodie bag and a special meet-and-greet with the drivers instead.
Winners must make their own way to Whitianga.
