Celebrating our Volunteers
Published on 12 June 2026
Across the Thames-Coromandel, volunteers play a vital role in everyday life. You are coaches, caregivers, emergency responders, environmental champions, and community builders. Through your efforts, you bring people together, support whānau and help create vibrant, resilient communities.
National Volunteer Week (14–20 June) is Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest celebration of volunteering — a time to recognise and thank the people who give their time, energy and care to support others.
This year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer – Tōu tau ki te tūao, celebrates those already making a difference, while encouraging more people to step forward and get involved. Volunteering connects us, strengthens our communities, and reflects the spirit of care and mahi aroha that defines our district.
As part of this year’s celebrations, Thames-Coromandel District Council is proud to share messages of thanks from Mayor Peter Revell and each of our Community Board Chairs. These messages recognise the collective impact of your contributions and express our deep appreciation for everything you do to make our communities a better place to live.
