Apply for an alcohol licence

To apply you'll need to make sure you complete the relevant application form, gather the supporting documentation, and pay the applicable application fee.

Completed forms can be emailed into us at customer.services@tcdc.govt.nz. Alternatively, you can post your documentation to us or drop it off at one of our council offices. Check out our payment methods page for how you can pay the application fee.


Application Forms:

New On Licence application
To sell and supply alcohol for consumption on your business premises e.g., restaurant, tavern, hotel

New Off Licence application
To sell and supply alcohol to be consumed somewhere else e.g., bottle store, supermarket, grocery store, winery cellar door

New Club Licence application
To sell and supply alcohol at a club to be consumed onsite, by club members and their guests e.g., sports club, RSA, social club

Renewal of On, Off, or Club Licence application
To renew your existing current On, Off or Club licence

Special Licence application
To sell or supply alcohol at an event e.g., festival, concert, function, fishing competition

Variation or Cancellation of Conditions of Licence application
To request changes to the conditions of your current licence e.g., change licensed hours, amend licensed area

Temporary Authority application
If you are taking over a business that has a current alcohol licence and you want to sell and supply alcohol while your own On or Off licence application is processed.

Alcohol Licensing Building and Planning Certificate application
To request approval that the proposed use of your premises meets the requirements of the Resource Management Act and the Building Code
