What % of properties in TCDC are recognised as permanent residents?

48% of our ratepayers have addresses within the Thames-Coromandel District Council area. Note: This is based on rating units i.e. not dwellings. So, it will include sections without dwellings. On the other hand, it may count some rating units with two dwellings as one.

It is based on the ratepayer address i.e. may overstate the non-residents, for example, properties with resident ratepayers but where the ratepayer address for the rates invoices is accountants/Trustees in Auckland, or other anomalies.

Can I offer money to a landowner to erect a hoarding on there property?

There is no issue with doing that, however ensure its reflected on your electoral expenses declaration.

Is any of the recycling collected by our contractors being mixed with general rubbish and sent to landfill.

Kerbside collection operates on an alternating schedule, with recycling bins collected one week and rubbish bins the next.  This system ensures that recycling and general waste remain separate, with no opportunities for materials to be combined during collection.

Once collected, recycling is then transported to our consolidation facility, where it's transferred into large containers and sent to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for processing.

To maintain the integrity of the recycling stream, regular audits are conducted to monitor bin contents for contamination.  If a bin contains a significant amount of non-accepted materials, it may not be collected by the recycling vehicle.  This approach ensures that only clean, acceptable recyclables are processed at the MRF.

Where do I find the average rates increase calculation?

The table that has been published in previous long term plan documents was not included in the 2024-34 long term plan. The approximate average increases can be calculated from the information contained in the Long Term Plan document.

The table showing the rating unit assumptions can be found on page 101 of the Long Term Plan, this along with the rates revenue information on page 263 will provide the information required for the average rates increase calculation. The approximate figures can also be seen in one of the financial prudence graphs on page 285.
