Council submission on the Future for Local Government review

Our Council provided a submission on the Review into the Future for Local Government’s Draft Report | He mata whāriki, he matawhānui.

In April 2021 the Minister of Local Government established a Ministerial Review into the Future for Local Government. The purpose of the Review was to identify how our system of local democracy and governance needs to evolve over the next 30 years, to improve the wellbeing of New Zealand communities and the environment, and actively embody Te Tiriti partnership.

The Review released its interim report in September 2021 and in October 2022 released a Draft Report: He mata whāriki, he matawhānui (the draft report). This draft report can be found here
