  • Bay of Plenty shellfish toxin warning extended to Opito Bay.

    Following ongoing shellfish toxin monitoring the Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) toxin warning has been extended to include Opito Bay. Click the title of this link to find out more. Shellfish grown and supplied by the Aquaculture Industry in the Coromandel is safe to eat and comes from approved growing areas which are tested on a weekly basis to ensure public safety. The health warning now includes the coastline from Opito Bay to Whakatane Heads including Whitianga, Hahei, Hot Water Beach, Tairua, Pauanui, Whangamata, Opoutere, Waihi Beach and estuaries, Tauranga Harbour, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and Maketu.

    A Total Fire Ban is in place until 8 February.

  • Road Closure - Bluff Road

    Bluff Road, (link road between Kuaotunu and Matarangi) is closed until further notice. An overhanging bluff about 350 meters from the Matarangi end of the road has become a high safety risk for vehicles and pedestrians.
