It’s been a day of disappointment for Thames-Coromandel District Mayor Philippa Barriball with news from Carter Holt Harvey confirming the closure of its timber mill at Kopu and the loss of 145 jobs, and an announcement from Transit NZ that while funding is committed for the new Kopu Bridge project, construction still won’t start until mid 2011.
