Council Facilities and Services under Alert Level 2

It’s largely business-as-usual for our community facilities and services under Alert Level 2.

Customer service desks - Thames, Coromandel Town, Whitianga and Whangamata: These are all open, with no change in operating hours. Visitors are being asked to complete the contract-tracing register.

Kerbside rubbish & recycling collections: Continuing as usual.

Refuse Transfer Stations: Open as normal. Use the government contract tracing app and sign-in books. Keep a distance from other users.

Boat ramps & wharves: Open.

Car parks: Open for normal use.

Thames Centennial Pool: Open. Changes to operations outlined here:

District Libraries: Open, but events at individual libraries may be cancelled. More information or call Thames Library 07 868 6616. Tairua Library 07 864 7960. Mercury Bay Library 07 866 4776.

Halls: Open as usual, but with restrictions on group size for bookings.

Jack McLean Community Recreation Centre, Thames: open, but operating with social distancing and contact-tracing register. See

Playgrounds: Open

Public toilets: Open.

Drinking fountains & showers: Working as usual

BBQs: On

Is operating on demand. Call them on 021 250 6241 to book.

There are designated GPs also offering COVID-19 assessment in the Thames-Coromandel District. Healthline or your GP will be able to tell you who they are. Please call first to make an appointment.
