Local businesses showcased at awards ceremony

Business excellence in the region was celebrated at last night's inaugural Hauraki Coromandel Business Awards at the Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort in Pauanui.

Paeroa firm Agrisea - which uses seaweed to make concentrates to boost soil, animal and human health -was the Supreme Award winner and also took top spot in the Innovative Business and Primary/Rural categories.

Pamper Me MediSpa in Thames was the People's Choice winner.

"We do need to celebrate everything that we have to offer," our Mayor Sandra Goudie said at the gala awards event.

"Every single one of you, your businesses, your enterprises, all the services, the employment - everything you do. So when I talked to [Hauraki District Mayor John Tregidga] about it, he was as excited as me, so we are thrilled to part of this," Mayor Sandra said.

The awards were open to businesses with the Hauraki and Thames-Coromandel district areas and were originated by Coromandel More FM's General Manager Kate Rigg.

"Strong businesses build strong communities," said Kate Rigg as the awards ceremony concluded.
