Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Coromandel Styles.

24 December 2014

A Coromandel Christmas message from Mayor Glenn Leach.

"It's great to be on the Coromandel in summer and I encourage you to get in amongst it.

The Coromandel is a legendary kiwi summer holiday destination so make sure you make the most of the beaches, take a trip around the District and try something you've never tried before, enjoy gorgeous scenic walks and take the boat out for some of the best fishing anywhere.

The markets and events around the Coromandel showcasing our home-grown and artisan products are in full bloom this summer so you'll be sure to find something to match your tastes. The food on the Coromandel is superb too.

In the future, we hope to be opening the Cathedral Coast Walk, showcasing one of the most epic walks on the Coromandel. See our project page at for more information. This coming ANZAC Day we'll also be launching the Coromandel's World War I Memorial Forests, which you can read about at As you can see, the Coromandel will continue to be a great place to be into the future.

The Ultrafast broadband rollout is progressing well, making it easy to run your business from the Coromandel, so if you're thinking about moving here permanently, I can tell you from experience it's a great place to raise a family, run a business and roll your sleeves up and become a part of a great community.

The clubs, sports teams, organisations and business here are in it together and made up of many who had only planned to come for a few years but who ended up staying for decades. That's what the Coromandel's like. It gets under your skin like no other part of New Zealand. And it'll become a part of you too.

Once again, whether you're just back for the summer or thinking about staying longer, welcome the Coromandel this summer.

i wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe and enjoy.
