Call for nominations to Proposed Cathedral Coast Walk Stakeholders Group

02 December 2014

We want to thank everyone who attended the public meeting on Saturday 29 November at the Hahei Community Hall to discuss the project update on the Proposed Cathedral Cove walk and the Coromandel Great Walks project.

We appreciate everyone's feedback and taking the time to meet with us and share views, which we are taking on board.

As discussed we are now in the process of setting up a Stakeholders Working Group with representatives from organisations and groups who will help provide input and feedback around the walks project and the wider issues around parking in Hahei.

The Stakeholders Working Group will meet with TCDC Project Manager Gary Towler, Mercury Bay Area Manager Len Whittaker and John Gaukrodger from DOC.

The categories we need representation from are:
1 - Pa Rd Residents. (one representative)
2 - Lees Rd Residents. (one representative)
3 - Hahei Business Association. (one representative)
4 - Hahei Beach Residents and Ratepayers Association. (two representatives - to reflect permanent and absentee resident/ratepayers)
5 - Coastal Walkways. (one representative)
6 - Hahei Reserves Group. (one representative)
7 - Grange Rd residents. (one representative)

On the day we had nominations from:
Pa Rd - Helen Walters and Cathie Bakely
Business Association - Richard Agnew
Hahei Beach R and R - Brian Keucke
Hahei Reserves Group - Karen Blair

If there are additional nominations for these groups please let us know - also if you have want to nominate yourself or another group (and specify why you want to be included).

We apologise for the short notice but we need to receive all nominations by midday Thursday 4 December so we can arrange a first meeting pre-Christmas. This is so we can try and work through some of the issues in the short-term over parking and traffic management around Hahei for this summer.

Representatives will be finalised by Friday 5 December and we will email everyone with the final names of the Working Group early next week.

We will also then circulate a proposed agenda for the meeting.

The Working Group will be selected by the Project Governance Group which is made up of TCDC elected members and staff, DOC staff and iwi.

If you are selected as a representative and unable to attend in person, phone conferencing will be arranged. If you aren't selected in the Working Group you can get regular updates by subscribing to our enewsletter (check out the right-hand side of this page).
