The Coromandel peninsula on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island is blessed with white sand beaches, a warm climate, close to main centres and surrounded by native flora and fauna - there's a place for everyone on the Coromandel.

Reporting to the Economic Development and Communications Group Manager, this position will coordinate Council's efforts to identify and attract support for economic development initiatives that will benefit the Coromandel including land productivity and land use, tourism, aquaculture and maori economic development spheres.

The role requires building relationships and networking with a wide range of national, regional and local stakeholders.

You will contribute to the development and delivery of Council’s economic work programme, which includes enabling existing businesses to thrive on the Coromandel as well as bringing new businesses to the district.

The role also offers opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in relevant field
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining productive relationships at the highest level.
  • A strong business focused network
    • Successful advocacy
    • Well-developed organisational skills
    • Strong written and verbal skills

Some other skills of benefit

  • Knowledge of Maori protocols and te reo
  • Knowledge of investment opportunities
