Job Vacancy

Solicitor

Department
Corporate Services Group
Position
Solicitor
Closing Date
28 June 2019 05:00 PM

If you are a solicitor looking for challenging and rewarding in-house work, then we want to hear from you. We are seeking expressions of interest from Solicitors interested in being part of the establishment of a small in-house legal team. This is a permanent role based in our Thames Office, with hours to be discussed with preferred candidates; with a strong focus on work-life balance, we’re happy to consider job sharing discussions.

Reporting to our Legal Counsel within the Corporate Services Group this role is varied; on a day to day basis you may be providing advice on public or administrative law, dealing with property matters, advising on procurement processes, looking at local government or resource management matters, drafting contracts or agreements and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.  The role is as broad as you want to make it!

Ideally you will be someone who is mentally agile, and who can think outside the square to find innovative solutions.  You will have a personality that lets you develop strong working relationships and still have a laugh or two. You will be self-starter who can prioritise and operate under pressure.

You will have a current practicing certificate or the ability to hold one, an eye for detail and outstanding organisational skills.  You will be able to communicate complex legal concepts in a manner which can be understood and acted upon.  In-house experience and/or local government experience would be an advantage but not a necessity.

Our Thames-Coromandel District Council is one of the largest employers in The Coromandel. We value highly skilled, community focused people who strive to make our strategic plans come to life, in return for competitive pay, generous relocation and ongoing professional development and support.

This is an opportunity to work in a great organisation where integrity, respect, innovation and teamwork are valued, where a diverse environment is celebrated and flexibility is promoted.

If you are looking for a fresh challenge and are excited by the potential to add value to our Council and communities with your outstanding knowledge, skills and initiative, then let’s have a chat.

Expressions of interest need to be received before 5pm 28th June 2019
