Fixed term during summer period, 20 to 24 hours per week.

As part of a nationwide programme, which includes the Thames-Coromandel peninsula, Council has an opportunity for several ambassadors to promote responsible camping across the Thames-Coromandel district. 

The ambassadors will provide freedom campers and visitors with information on correct places to camp and identify relevant facilities to enable people to camp conscientiously in our district.  Addressing campers’ queries and the collection of statistical data will also be part of the role.

We seek ambassadors who are confident interacting with people who may be travelling from within New Zealand or from diverse countries throughout the world and communicate in a way that assists people to care for New Zealand in accordance with the Tiaki promise

You will need

  • A current full NZ driver’s license
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills
  • Confidence in using technology
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand

You will be provided with the resources required,

  • including insignia,
  • designated vehicle for work purposes
  • Tablet/mobile phone
  • Induction training

Successful applicants will need to undergo a Ministry of Justice criminal check and possess a satisfactory Police record in line with Council's employment requirements.
