Safe homes and buildings are a vital part of Coromandel Peninsula living.  Thames-Coromandel District Council is seeking a Building Consent Processor to be part of our Building Unit and the team that ensures the right things are happening for our homes and buildings.

The Coromandel Peninsula’s population is booming which means an exciting period of growth for us.  This full-time permanent position is available for people interested in applying their sound knowledge of the building industry legislation and NZ building code to processing new builds, amendments and exciting new projects, ensuring customer needs and statutory requirements are met.

When you choose to live and work here, you can experience what New Zealanders feel when they are on holiday, every day!  World class beaches, iconic holiday destinations, great backcountry tramping, biking, diving and of course fishing.  All of which is only an hour and a half to Auckland, Tauranga or Hamilton.

If you are looking for a fresh challenge and you’re excited by the potential to add value to our Council and communities with your outstanding knowledge, skills and initiative, then let’s have a chat.

Dealing with the intricacies of the building consent process you will need to be able to quickly develop strong relationships, have a can-do attitude with the ability to develop innovative solutions that work for all involved.  You will be a self-starter who can prioritise and operate under pressure.  A great sense of humour will have you fit right in with the team.

Excellent knowledge of NZ building industry legislation, building code and associated regulations is a must as well as possessing or working towards an appropriate NZ qualification relating to Building Controls.

Reporting to our Team Leader Processing in the Building Unit, this role is varied and busy; so you will be well organised and consistent in setting, prioritising and meeting realistic deadlines, with meticulous attention to detail, be highly motivated and have the ability to cope with the varied workload.

Thames-Coromandel District Council is one of the largest employers in the Coromandel. We value highly skilled, community focused people who strive to make our strategic plans come to life, in return for competitive pay and ongoing professional development and support.

This is an opportunity to work in a great organisation where integrity, respect, innovation and teamwork are valued, where a diverse environment is celebrated, and flexibility is promoted
