ANZAC parades and memorial services in our district

Our Mayor Len extends a warm welcome to the public to attend our district's ANZAC Parades and Memorial Services on Tuesday 25 April 2023, as we remember those who have served on our behalf.

  • All descendants of returned service personnel are welcome to participate in the parades.
  • Returned service personnel are asked to wear their medals and decorations.
  • Descendants of returned service personnel marching in the parades are asked to wear medals on the right upper portion of their apparel.

Services will be held at the following locations:

Coromandel Town

10.00am: ANZAC Service at Memorial Reserve, 355 Kapanga Road, Coromandel Town, followed by morning tea at The Club, 190 Woollams Avenue.


5.45am: Dawn Parade - from Tapu Fire Station to Cenotaph, Tapu Hall

6.00am: Dawn service at Tapu Hall followed by breakfast.


5.45am Dawn Parade from Sealey Street (outside BNZ), along Pollen Street, Turn, left into Mary Street to Thames War Memorial, Civic Centre

6am: Service at Thames War Memorial, Civic Centre, followed by breakfast at the Thames Bowling Club on Mackay Street, opposite the Council offices.

9.45am Civic Parade from Sealey Street (outside BNZ), along Pollen Street, left into Mary Street, to Thames War Memorial Civic Centre

10am: Service at Thames War Memorial Civic Centre.


5.45am: Dawn Service – on the beach adjacent to Pāuanui Surf Lifesaving Club, Pāuanui Boulevard, Pāuanui (Pāuanui Sports and Recreation Club if wet).

10:45: March from Pāuanui Garden Centre to Pāuanui Sports and Recreation Club.

11.00am: Service at  Pāuanui Sports and Recreation Club.


6.00am: Dawn Service, Tairua Ex-Servicemen's Cemetery, Main Rd, Tairua.


6.30am: Sunrise Flag Raising and Service - Assemble at Whangamatā Surf Club. After the service, a cooked breakfast will be available at Blackies in Williamson Park.

9.00am: Mix and Mingle at Whangamatā RSA before heading to Council Offices at 620 Port Road for the Parade.

10.20am: Civic Parade led by the Bay of Plenty Pipes & Drums from the Council Offices, 620 Port Road, Whangamatā.

11.00am: Wreath laying at Whangamatā War Memorial Hall, Port Road, Whangamatā, followed by a light lunch and entertainment by Ebonivory at the RSA Clubrooms.        


5.45am: Dawn Parade - Assemble at Mercury Bay Club carpark, Cook Drive, Whitianga to march to Soldiers' Memorial Park.

6.00am: Service at Soldiers' Memorial Park, Whitianga.


10.30am: Assemble at the corner of Cordyline Crescent and Ake Ake Avenue. 

10.45am: March to Matarangi Fire Station.

11.00am: Service outside of Matarangi Fire Station (Matarangi Shopping Centre).


10.30am: Service at the Kotare Reserve Memorial Garden, Pa Road, Hahei.
