Have your say on our Parking Bylaw

Council is proposing to make a new bylaw to replace its 2014 Parking Control Bylaw. Here's what's proposed:

• The new Parking Bylaw will have a different structure and layout, to reflect current ‘best practice’ guidelines.

• Existing provisions for parking on roads and in off-street car parks will be reorganised into separate parts of the bylaw.
  
  
• The current bylaw schedules will be replaced with a new register of resolutions that will not be part of the bylaw, but will be publicly available, alongside it. The register will be a record of all resolutions made by Council about the location of parking restrictions covered under the bylaw.  

• The bylaw will include updated provisions setting out a clearer, simpler process for paying for parking spaces, including the use of QR codes or Council’s website.
  
  
• Existing locations on roads where boat trailer parking is permitted or prohibited are to be reorganised as zone parking areas to make it easier to manage them. Boat trailer parking in zone parking areas may be limited to certain times of the day, days of the year and fees may be charged for some of these. Council is looking for feedback on whether the zones should only apply during ‘peak’ times of the year, e.g. December to February, public holidays and weekends, or whether people should pay for parking boat trailers.

Council is also proposing new zones for boat trailer parking at the locations below. With the exception of the Paku boat ramp, fees will apply at these locations. Check out our boat ramps payment system

• collect a printed feedback form from one of the Council offices in Thames, Coromandel, Whitianga or Whangamatā. Fill it out and hand it in at the office or post it to Thames-Coromandel District Council, Private Bag 1001, Thames 3540.
