Our pre-consultation on the 2021-2031 Long Term Plan (LTP) closed on 4 December 2020. Thank you to the many people who took time to fill in our survey on topics including user fees vs rates, rubbish & recycling, and local projects - your feedback is helping us prepare the budgets, project priorities and service levels in the LTP for the next decade. Our proposals for the LTP will go out for a formal public consultation from 12 March - 12 April (instead of 5 March - 6 April as previously communicated) and your feedback will be crucial in fine-tuning those proposals so they reflect what you want from your Council. You’ve already told us to pack light, so we’re planning a no frills budget to build and maintain the essentials such as roads, water, wastewater and stormwater services, rubbish and recycling, parks and reserves. What happens next? We're finishing off our Consultation Document - this is your roadmap for the LTP and details what we propose to do, when we want to do it, and how we plan to fund it - and what the impact will be ratepayers and on our fees and charges. The consultation document will be available to download from this page and hard copies will be available during the consultation period from our Council service centres. Once you've digested the proposals in the Consultation Document, please lodge a submission. Full details about how to give us your feedback will be on our website and in the consultation document. Once you’ve read the Consultation Document, if you want more information about the LTP before making your submission, you can drop in, have a cuppa, and chat with the Mayor: 20 March Tairua 9-11am Pauanui 12-2pm Whangamata 3-5pm 21 March Coromandel Town 10am-12pm Whitianga 2-4pm 25 March Thames 11am-1pm We'll post the venues on this page once they're confirmed. If you miss the online forum we’ll upload the recordings to this page. We'll have more information on these forums on this page and on our Facebook page. What is the Long-Term Plan? The LTP is a key planning document for the Council that we develop every three years. The LTP outlines all the things the Council does and how they fit together. It contains the strategic direction for Council’s finances and infrastructure. It identifies what will be done over the plan's 10-year period, why our Council is doing those things, and their costs. Our current LTP, which covers the 2018-2028 period can be viewed here.
