Marinas on the Coromandel

Whitianga Marina

Whitianga Marina is the gateway to the Mercury Islands, with easy access to the I-Site information centre, main street, local attractions and amenities.

The marina has 201 berths ranging in size from 10 to 18 metres, with a travel lift and hard stand facilities available for public use. The fuel dock can fill up to 6 x 20 meter boats at the same time. Diesel and 95 petrol are available 24 hours/day with a pin number enabled credit card or Eftpos. Marina fuel cards are available by application. This is an unmanned, self-service facility.

Whangamatā Marina

This harbour marina provides great access to offshore game and recreational fishing triangulated by Mayor Island, The Alderman Islands and Slipper Island to the North. Protected by a solid rock breakwater on three sides, the 209 berths range from 10.5m to 20m in length.

Berths are designed with full length fingers, two intermediate piles, generous fairways, and power and water supply via individual power modules. There is a 24 hour fuel jetty supplying Gull diesel, sewage pump-out facilities as well as evening security patrols and free car parking for berth owners and visitors.

Pāuanui Waterways

Pauanui Waterways is located in Tairua Harbour on Coromandel's eastern seaboard. This is a canal housing development with 150 private moorings but casual rentals are available.

Whitianga Waterways

Whitianga Waterways is located in Whitianga Harbour 1500m upstream of Whitianga Marina. This marine-based urban development has a sheltered all-weather entrance that is navigable by large craft, regardless of tide or weather. There are 38 private berths with private rentals by arrangement.

The Marina, Tairua

At the base of Mount Paku, this 95 berth marina is close to the entrance of the harbour and provides a base to visit Slipper Island and the Alderman Islands. Berths range from 8.4m to 25m in length with 16amp power (8-13m berths) and 32amp power (15-25m berths). The self-service fuel jetty provides both diesel or 96. The commercial marina building houses the marina office, laundry and ablutions, as well as a number of local businesses.

Bookings for casual rentals are essential as spaces are limited.

Maintenance Facilities
  • Sugarloaf maintenance grid at Te Kouma Rd is available for hire on a short term basis for a daily fee. Please contact the Wharf Warden, Cliff Newton, on 021 2934086 to make a booking.
