We’re getting sorted for our next Long Term Plan (LTP), and would like you to help us pack our bags for the journey. The LTP sets our Council’s financial priorities, key projects and levels of service in detail for the next three years, with a longer-term view out to 10 years. You’ve already told us to pack light, so we’re planning a core business budget to build and maintain the essentials such as roads, water, wastewater and stormwater services, rubbish and recycling, parks and reserves. We’ll be holding a formal consultation on the details of the 2021-2031 LTP in March next year, but to help us prepare the LTP packing list, we want to hear from you about what you want to take on the journey. In particular, we want your thoughts on: Who pays? Fees and charges or rates? Rubbish and recycling – changes to our service and the charges for what we provide. Tourism promotion – changes to how we fund and support this. Increased rates for local projects – would you support? This LTP needs to be adopted by 30 June 2021. What is the Long-Term Plan? The LTP is a key planning document for the Council that the Local Government Act 2002 (the LGA) requires us to develop every three years. The LTP outlines all the things the Council does and how they fit together. It contains the strategic direction for Council’s finances and infrastructure. It identifies what will be done over the plan's 10-year period, why our Council is doing those things, and their costs. Our current LTP, which covers the 2018-2028 period can be viewed here. What is happening now? Early pre-consultation from 6 November to 4 December to let communities know what we’re thinking of doing, and to seek their early feedback our some proposals.
