You can pay most Council invoices using internet banking.
Our bank account and details are pre-loaded with all major New Zealand banks. Search for us on your bank’s list of pre-approved payees (usually a dropdown list in alphabetical order).
If you can't find us as a "payee" on your internet banking website, here are our bank details if you want to create a regular bill payment or do a one-off payment online.

Details for paying deposits for Resource Consent (RMA) applications
Because deposits for these applications are handled a bit differently than other payments to Council, we don't issue an invoice or other paperwork with an invoice number or reference number to quote. This can make it difficult for our Finance Team to identify these payments when they're made through internet banking unless people make it clear the payment is for a Resource Consent application.
It doesn't matter much which field (Particulars, Code, Reference) you put the following information into, but please include:
For Resource Consent applications
- Write "Resource Consent deposit" or "RMA deposit"
- Put in as much of the relevant address as possible
- If your online banking system insists you enter a customer number, put in 9 ones: 111111111
For example:

ANZ change to real time banking
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand is requiring all New Zealand banks to make changes to the way domestic payments are processed. From the 1st December 2016 all NZ banks are required to process transactions near real time.
If you pay your rates by direct debit then you need to be aware that the direct debts will be processed during the day real time. Previously this was after 10.00pm. You will need to ensure that you have sufficient funds available to meet these payments.
For example you may be relying on your wages and salaries to be credited to your account to cover direct debits. You will now need to ensure that you have sufficient funds available to meet these payments without relying on you wages and salary payment.
