If so, here are some questions to think about asking the applicant when deciding to sign the written approval form:

  • Why does my written approval need to be obtained for your resource consent application to Council?
  • Where are the buildings/houses going to be located?
  • Will the buildings be in a location I am happy with?
  • What is the height of the proposed buildings?
  • Where are the windows on the proposed building and will their siting affect my privacy?
  • Will there be any affect on sunlight into my property?
  • Will any of my views be obstructed?
  • Is there going to be an increase in noise?
  • Where is the vehicle parking going to be on the site?
  • Where are the driveways?
  • Is there any landscaping or fencing proposed?
  • Is there going to be any significant earthworks being done?
  • Where will the stormwater be discharged from and where will it go?
  • Is there going to be any activity taking place at night?
  • Will there be outside lighting that could affect me?
  • How long will it take to complete the building on site?
  • Have you got some plans and documents for me to sign?

You may also like to consider whether:

  • There may be any wider environmental or other effects from this proposal
  • There is anything you would like to see included in this development.
