Details of the application for resource consent listed below may be examined in the Council Office at 515 Mackay Street, Thames and the Whangamata Area Office, Port Road, Whangamata during normal office hours.  A copy is also available on our web site.

Submissions shall be made in writing and shall state:

(a)  The reasons for making the submission and the decision that the person wishes the consent authority to make, if known by the person making the submission, and the general nature of any conditions sought; and

(b)  Whether or not the person making the submission wishes to be heard in respect of the submission.

Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive, Thames-Coromandel District Council, Private Bag, Thames, to be received by 5.00pm Tuesday 11th December 2007.

PROPOSAL: 

RMA2007/344 & SUB2007/128

The proposal is to construct a new retirement village complex comprising of three multi-storey apartment buildings, twenty one 3 bedroom units (either one storey with double garage and floor area of 196m2 or two storey with double garage and floor area of 207m2), thirty four 2 or 3 bedroom units (single level duplex with single garages and floor area of 139m2 for 3 bedroom units and 131m2 for 2 bedroom units), nine 2 bedroom units (single level with single garages),  twenty four 2 bedroom units (two storey terrace units with single garages), tennis court and lawn bowling green.  The apartment buildings will comprise one six storey building (with 46 apartments up to a maximum height of 21.5m and lower floor with residents amenities eg swimming pool), and two five storey buildings (with the eastern building containing 47 partments up to a maximum height of 18.5m and the western building containing either 47 apartments or a 44 bed nuse care facility and 30 apartments, both up to a maximum height of 18.5m).

374 on-site carpark spaces will be provided (109 spaces in garages, 180 spaces in the apartment building basements and 85 visitor spaces spread around the site.

A subdivision consent is sought to create a 5.6 hectare site on which to establish the retirement village (balances area of 27.6 hectares).
