Landscape Assessment

White sand beaches, headlands between beaches, Pohutukawa fringed coasts, good quality native bush and rivers are seen as the most valuable landscapes on the Coromandel Peninsula according to a survey of residents. A separate assessment by a landscape architect has confirmed landscapes of special value on the Coromandel.

The professional assessment and community survey are part of a four strand landscape assessment being undertaken by Thames-Coromandel District Council. Consultation with, Iwi and potentially affected landowners will be initiated shortly.
