The Council has now adopted the 2006-2016 Long-Term Council Community Plan (an LTCCP).
Since mid 2005, we have been consulting with the communities of the Peninsula to identify what they would like the District to look like in the future. Our communities have said that the District should reflect the following community outcomes:
- Our communities recognise and value the natural environment
- The natural values of our coast and beaches are respected and enhanced
- Our communities are healthy, cohesive, caring and supportive
- The diversity and character of our communities and the uniqueness of the Peninsula is a valued part of our lifestyle
- The Peninsula’s long and rich history is valued and preserved
- Our local economies reflect the spirit of the Peninsula
- The needs of both local and visitor communities is met through sound planning, ahead of growth and development.
The LTCCP outlines how the Council will contribute to delivering on these outcomes over the next ten years. It provides a long term focus and:
- Describes the type of district our communities have told us they’d like – their vision for the future;
- Outlines the role the Council will play in working towards achieving that vision;
- Provides an overview of each activity the Council will carry out for the next ten years and the associated financial costs;
- Identifies some of the key challenges facing the Council over the next 10 years.
The LTCCP commences in the July 2006. The Council is required to subsequently prepare an LTCCP every three years, and a smaller Annual Plan in the years in between.
