I arrived from Holland in 1974 and travelled the length of New Zealand for two years looking for the best place to live.
My choice was the Coromandel and I started farming on a small drystock farm. My wife Kathy and I now own or part own two dairy farms near Whitianga.
We had a 10-year break from the Coromandel Peninsula setting up and running a diving and game fishing business in the Pacific Islands as well as organising international yacht races from Australia. I try to spend my few spare moments in the Coromandel bush and on the surrounding waters. I love the peninsula and enjoy serving our community in my role as Councillor.
