Coromandel Peninsula Blueprint

Local Area Blueprints

The Coromandel Peninsula Blueprint, adopted by Council in December 2009, is about managing change, growth and sustainable development on the Peninsula.

Local Area Blueprints (LABs) are an opportunity for us to begin shaping a future that we can all take pride in passing onto our children and grandchildren.

The district-wide Blueprint brings together a range of existing plans and the aspirations of the community to ensure we achieve the district we want, rather than leave it to chance or in the hands of others.

The Blueprint is a joint effort between those agencies that share the responsibility as environmental guardians, planners and providers of services and infrastructure across our district.  The project partners represented on the decision-making Political Steering Group are: Thames-Coromandel District Council, Environment Waikato, Hauraki Whaanui and the Department of Conservation

These project partners recognised that the increasing pressures of growth on the Coromandel’s water, land, coast and marine resources needed to be managed in an integrated manner.

Key documents, including the District Plan, the Regional Policy Statement and Iwi Management Plans are also being reviewed during 2010, and these will be informed by the Blueprint vision.

Scrap Book

The Coromandel Peninsula Blueprint team has compiled a ‘scrapbook’ that presents a snapshot of what the youth of the Coromandel love about living on the Coromandel Peninsula, and their insights into what could be improved.

Due to the size of this file, the document has been split, so each section is easier to download:
