Our district has told us that healthy, cohesive, caring and supportive communities are important. The Council contributes to this by offering a variety of awards, grants and discretionary funding to assist our Peninsula's diverse community groups and organisations in this goal.

To date Council has supported;

  • Promoting community service including a new youth award
  • Promoting sport
  • Promoting the arts
  • Promoting life education
  • Provision of social service networking and advisory services
  • Provision of pensioner housing
  • Support for surf lifesaving
  • Promoting creative communities

Assistance includes grants and funding via the Creative Community Scheme, Community Board 'Treasure Chest' Funding,  discretionary District Grants and the Community Services Awards which recognise volunteers with an award rather than a grant. A new award to recognise youth has just been introduced for 2008.

For more information about each of the above please refer to the menu on the left hand side.
