Notification of Hearing

In accordance with the Resource Management Act 1991, the proposed private plan change and submissions/further submissions lodged in respect of the same will be heard on:

Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 December 2009
at 9.00am Council Chambers, 515 Mackay Street, Thames

If necessary the hearing will continue at 9.00am on Thursday 3 December.

Please be advised that Council has delegated its powers to the Hearing Panel to hear submissions and further submissions on the proposed private plan change and to make decisions on the private plan change application.

Thames-Coromandel District Council have requested further information from the applicant and are waiting for that to be provided.

Once we have received the requested information it will be assessed to determine if it is complete and submitters will be notified of the hearing for the Proposed Plan Change.

FURTHER SUBMISSIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED

At present Thames-Coromandel District Council is working through all the further submissions received and the advisement of the hearing will be notified as soon as possible.

_______________________________________________________________ Notice of Summary of Submissions and call for Further Submissions

In accordance with Clause 7 of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991, a summary of the decisions requested in submissions received on Plan Change 7 - Wharekaho Beach Developments to insert a new structure plan into the District Plan to provide for residential development of 111 lots at 3 Wharekaho Road, Whitianga has been prepared.

Further submissions can now be made by any person, but ONLY in support of or opposition to any of the original submissions. That is, no new proposals beyond the scope of the original submissions may be introduced at this further submission stage.

Any person that makes a further submission must, within 5 working days, serve a copy of their submission on the person who made the original submission. Further submissions shall be made on Form 6.

The summary of submissions, database of submitters, Form 6 and a copy of the public notice are available at the end of this section under Application Documentation.

48 submissions have been received in response to the public notification. At present Thames-Coromandel District Council is working through these and the opportunity for further submissions will be advised as soon as possible.

_______________________________________________________________ Public Notice of Proposed Private Plan Change to the Thames-Coromandel District Plan (Operative in Part)

The location of the proposed private plan change request is at the northern entrance to Whitianga (3 Wharekaho Road, Whitianga being 47.74 ha and legally described as Lot 2 DPS 320358).

The Plan Change proposed to insert a new structure plan into the Thames-Coromandel District Plan to provide for residential development of 111 lots, protection of regenerating native bush, provision for walkways and amenity planting and wetland restoration.

The proposed private plan change may be inspected at the following places:

Thames-Coromandel District Service Centres in:
Thames, Whitianga, Coromandel and Whangamata; plus
Whitianga Public Library
